The Medium is due to hit Xbox Series X and PC by the end of the year. If you fancy giving it a listen, then follow the link to Steam, where the track is available, and further tracks will be released in the run-up to the game’s eventual release.

In the game, The Maw is an intelligent but hostile entity of the spirit world, an incarnation of complicated and often contradicting emotions, born from an unspeakable tragedy. With the game’s release (hopefully) looming on the horizon, Bloober has kicked off Spooky Season by giving gamers a taste of that Yamaoka side of the soundtrack (in keeping with the game’s twin worlds, the soundtrack is handled by two composers, the other being Arkadiusz Reikowski) by allowing a free download of one of his pieces from the game. But from the moment we heard legendary Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka was involved in the game’s soundtrack, that sealed the deal.

One reason is the Polish developer’s record in the genre this generation, another is the enticing promise of dual worlds, existing side-by-side in the game.
